Fourth Cliff Family Recreation Area is a 56-acre seaside resort located in Humarock (Scituate) on Massachusetts' South Shore. We're open year round with limited availability during the winter months (Jan - Mar). We also have several RV camper sites and spaces for tent sites available from May 1 to October 31.

We're in a superb location, sitting high on a cliff at the end of a peninsula, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean on one side and the scenic North River on the other and offer an excellent opportunity for solitude and relaxation.

Fishing, beach combing, sunbathing & touring are some of our best attractions. Nearby is historic Plymouth, Martha's Vineyard & Cape Cod; Boston is only 30 miles north by car or ferry.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Check-in time: 2 p.m., Check-out time: 11 a.m. Check-in/Check-out time for RV sites is 12 p.m.

Fourth Cliff has 15 houses and four efficiencies, 11 improved RV camper sites and four tenting areas. View a mappdf of our recreation area.

Please note: Families may book only one facility per family during our in-season; with a maximum of seven nights per stay, minimum two nights (holiday weekends minimum stay three nights).

All of the cottages, chalets and efficiencies are well-equipped facilities with all the amenities of a modern home. Every location has a water view. Each unit has a telephone, TV and microwave oven and are completely furnished with pots & pans, dishes, flatware, utensils, a coffee maker, toaster, etc. A crib and highchair are also provided (extra cribs are not available). Linens and bath towels for the standard number of four occupants are provided, as is toilet tissue. Additional towels are available at the Recreation Hall upon checking in. Toiletries, including hand soap, are not provided. Facilities are not air conditioned.

The air-conditioned Recreation Hall (where you check in) is the gathering place for all activities and our information center. It is the ideal place for an off-season meeting — we can accommodate groups of 25-30. We have a seasonal snack bar that offers a limited menu. There's also a beer & wine bar, video games, table tennis and a pool table. RECREATION HALL HOURS: Mon.- Thu. 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Fri. - Sun. 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Reservations are normally required for our RV sites. Improved campsites are on hard stands with full hook-ups adjacent to each site. The bath house is available for unimproved RV camping sites within easy walking distance of all sites. At the present time there is no dump station available, but arrangements can be made for dumping.You must check in upon arrival.

We have four designated areas for tent sites, which are available seasonally when the bathhouse facilities are open. Reservations are not required; space is rented on a first-come, first-served basis. Designated areas will be shown to you on a map. You must register and pay upon arrival. Tent sites must be cleared by 12:00 p.m. on the day of checkout.

There are three picnic areas available for group picnics. Reservations include exclusive use of the picnic area, a family size grill and up to 10 picnic tables (ask the reservation clerk for rates). Keg beer is available for group functions (a one-week notice is required). When picnic areas are not reserved for group functions they can be used on a first-come, first-served basis by authorized personnel at no charge.

As an added convenience, you can rent the following items from the Recreation Hall: lobster cooking pots, folding cots, DVD players, fishing rods/reels, canopies, outdoor propane cookers, super coolers and mobile gas grills.

A coin-operated laundromat facility, located in Building #6, is open to our guests.

DIRECTIONS

From the north, Hanscom AFB and Boston  
Take I-95 South and continue to I-93 North (signs for I-93 N/Boston/Braintree/US-1 N) until it intersects with Rt. 3 South to Exit 12 (Marshfield/Pembroke). Turn right (East) onto Rt.139 towards Marshfield. Go 1.5 miles to fifth traffic light (Furnace St.) take a left here. Continue to "T" intersection and at the "T" take a left onto Ferry St.  Continue on Ferry St until it intersects with Sea St. (You will see the Bridgwaye Inn.) Take a right over the bridge and a left onto Central Ave. Go to the fork in the road and bear left to the Fourth Cliff gate. Open the gate and enter to Building 7.

From Route 3 northbound
Take Exit 12 (Marshfield/Pembroke). Turn left (east) onto Rt. 139 towards Marshfield. Go 1.5 miles to fourth traffic light (Furnace St.) take a left here. Continue to "T" intersection and at the "T" take a left onto Ferry St. Continue on Ferry St until it intersects with Sea St. (You will see the Bridgwaye Inn.) Take a right over the bridge and a left onto Central Ave. Go to the fork in the road and bear left to the Fourth Cliff gate. Open the gate and enter to Building 7.

From Logan Airport or Boston
Take I-93 South to MA Rt. 3 South and follow directions above. (Note: Do not take Exit 12 off I-93 South when coming from Boston.)

RULES & POLICIES

We maintain a strict cancellation/refund policy. The reservation is not considered a day-to-day contract, but a contract for the full reservation period. All re-booking must be done at the reservation desk. If you leave early, the rental fee becomes the property of Fourth Cliff. Before you invest your money with us be sure you understand our refund policy (e.g., inclement weather, insects, etc. are not valid reasons for refunds). Cancellations are not accepted via email. All facilities are non-smoking.

Visiting pets must be tethered on a hand-held leash. Pets are not allowed in any of our accommodations: chalets, cottages, efficiencies; nor are they allowed on porches of chalets, cottages or efficiencies; or in the Recreation Hall or laundry room. 

Small camp fires are permitted on the beach below the high tide mark. A fire permit is required. Fire permits may be obtained at the rec hall. Campfires are not allowed above the beach area, marshes, or areas adjacent
to the river. At no time can fires be left unattended. You are responsible for cleaning the surrounding area.
